About Mangosuthu University of Technology

  • Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, former Prime Minister of the KwaZulu Homeland in apartheid South Africa, founded the university in 1974. Prince Buthelezi first proposed the concept of establishing a tertiary education institution specializing in technical courses during a meeting with Mr. Harry F Oppenheimer, Chairman of the Anglo American Corporation and De Beers Consolidated Mines.
  • As a University of Technology, Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) aspires to be distinctive and will stand out from the crowd due to exceptional performance in specific subjects. Now is the time to apply to be a student there in 2023.

MUT Application form 2023-2024

  • The CAO website, www.cao.ac.za, has application forms available for download. You can also apply online by visiting www.cao.ac.za, clicking on the apply link, then applying now, and following the simple instructions. On the CAO application form, the CAO number is printed on a tear-off slip.
  • The online application for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) closes on particular dates in the year preceding the year of study for both South African and international residents. The deadline for MUT online applications for the year 2023 is in May.

Minimum Requirements for Admission

  • A minimum of 5 subjects with a level 4 pass for diploma study and level 3 for Access Courses A National Senior
  • A certificate with a diploma pass or N3 with 50 percent pass in Mathematics and English
  • A minimum of 5 subjects with a level 4 pass for diploma study and level 3 for Access Courses
  • Level 4 pass in English as a First Language or as a Second Language
  • Relevant to the qualification, specific subject combination, and pass level
  • Minimum points required by faculty and specified in the CAO handbook

Documents Required

APPLICANTS FROM SOUTH AFRICA

  • Statement of Results or National Senior Certificate
  • Identity Certificate for Seniors
  • Students who are transferring from another university must submit an original academic record as well as a certificate of good standing.

APPLICANTS WHO ARE NOT FROM SOUTH AFRICA

  • a current study permit
  • A legitimate medical aid or health insurance policy is required.
  • A valid passport is required.
  • GCE, GCSE, IGCSE, or Cambridge School Certificate are all terms for the same thing.
    Students who have earned a GCE GCSE IGCSE or
  • a Cambridge School Certificate must have completed five
  • eligible ordinary level topics, including the English language, in the same test sitting.

You can check the status of your application by visiting www.cao.ac.za and entering your CAO number, or by emailing enqgeneralcao@cao.ac.za or calling 031 268 4444.

Online applications are available, or application forms can be picked up at the campus. The Central Applications Office accepts online applications (CAO).

  • The Central Applications Office receives all first-year applications (CAO).
