Applications are accepted from March to September 30 each year (beyond this date, applications will not be considered; please apply during the application cycle before the closing date to ensure your application is reviewed.)

Application requirements for the NWU

Before applying for admission to North-West University (NWU), all Applicants should read and understand these Admission Requirements.

Applicants who are starting a new qualification must upload all appropriate documents, which often include:

a copy of your academic credentials (eg Senior Certificate)
(If appropriate) a copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (internet copies will not be accepted)
RSA students: a copy of your ID document or a copy of your ID/passport (international students)
a copy of your marriage certificate or divorce decree (if appropriate) (if applicable)
If the documents are not in English or Afrikaans, sworn translations are required.

How to Apply to North-West University Through the Internet

Obtain a student identification number (Go to step 2 if you already have one)

Go to the new application platform for online applications.
Select ‘New application’ from the drop-down menu.
Fill out all of the fields on the ‘Create new student number’ page.

Please log in.

Choose what you wish to learn about.

Here you will find information on courses, admission requirements, and other topics.

Please upload any supporting papers.

Grade 12 results (only June or final results will be considered; March results will not be considered), grade 11 results (only final results will be considered), or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
a photocopy of your ID
a copy of your transcripts (if applicable)
Additional paperwork for potential overseas students:
a copy of the relevant outcomes
a certified copy of your passport
