All staff and students have access to Microsoft 365, which includes Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access (PC only), and Publisher (PC only), with the exception of students enrolled in Short courses. Microsoft 365 also includes services like Teams and OneDrive.

Is it possible to install Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise on a machine that has an older version of Microsoft Office?

No. Before installing Microsoft 365 Apps for business, all previous versions of Office must be uninstalled. Keep in mind that if you want to restore previous/older versions later, you’ll need your product key.

Is it better to install the 32-bit or 64-bit version?

Unless Office detects that you already have a 32-bit version of Office (or a stand-alone Office software such as Project or Visio) installed, the 64-bit version is installed by default. The 32-bit version of Office will be installed instead in this scenario.

What is the maximum number of machines/devices on which I may install Microsoft 365 Apps for business?

Install Office on PCs, Macs, Windows tablets, iPad®, AndroidTM tablets, and most mobile devices to get a full Office experience. The Office desktop programs can be installed on up to five PCs or Macs, as well as up to five tablets and phones per user.
