  • The North-West University Faculty of Theology practices Reformational theology. This entails acknowledging that the Bible, God’s Word, was inspired by the Holy Spirit and hence inspired and authoritative. This is the base upon which all paradigms (including our own) are continually subjected to critical and reformative evaluation, while also accommodating staff and students from other theological perspectives that appreciate this Reformational foundation and inclusive approach.
  • North-West University’s Faculty of Theology is based on Reformed ideas. In this manner, it acknowledges its historical links to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the RCSA Theological School, and the PU for CHE from 1869 to 2004. The Reformed premise requires acceptance of the Bible as God’s Word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and authoritative. We acknowledge and cherish the Reformed viewpoint on God and the written Word of God as God’s unique revelation in our practice of Theology as a science.
  • The Bible – God’s special revelation, in addition to his creation revelation – is the topic of scientific investigation. Teaching-learning, research, and competence application are carried out on this revelation and in its light, thanks to the enlightening work of the Holy Spirit. Because of its fundamental location and importance in the Bible, God’s kingdom is considered as the orientational foundation on which Theology is performed.
  • This Reformed foundation and ethos necessitate a continuous analytical, critical, and Reformed scientific study of all paradigms (including our own), as well as the study of other theological paradigms and traditions while accommodating staff and students of other theological persuasions who respect the Reformed foundation and inclusive approach of the Faculty of Theology.
  • The Faculty’s theology practice, teaching-learning, and research are adaptable and open to criticism, and they aim for effective and positive adjustments and improvements. This flexibility and openness extend not just to methodological and epistemological issues, but also to the use of scientific procedures and technology.
