About South African Theological Seminary 

  • The South African Theological Seminary, founded in 1996 in Bryanston, South Africa, is a widely evangelical online education organization. Dr. Kevin Smith has been the seminary’s principal since May 2018.
  • Dr. Christopher Peppler founded the seminary in 1996 and is a founding member of the National Association of Distance Education Organizations in South Africa (NADEOSA). SATS is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE), and its qualifications are registered with the South African Department of Higher Education and Training, which is analogous to regional accreditation in the United States in terms of quality.
  • SATS offers undergraduate (Higher Certificate in Christian Life, Higher Certificate in Christian Counseling, Bachelor of Theology B.Th., Bachelor of Theology with a focus on Christian Counseling) and post-graduate (Higher Certificate in Christian Life, Higher Certificate in Christian Counseling, Bachelor of Theology with a focus on Christian Counseling) and doctoral programs (B.Th. Honours, Master of Divinity, M.Th., Ph.D. in Theology).
  • The Village Church, which was planted by Rosebank Union Church, is responsible for the spiritual oversight of SATS. The seminary’s theological perspective is generally evangelical. The South African Theological Seminary’s objective is to prepare Christians, especially leaders, to be Holy Spirit empowered members of God’s household by providing Bible-based, Christ-centered, and Spirit-led distance education and training within their local church setting.

How to Get Started 2023 Application Form for the South African Theological Seminary

  • Visit https://www.sats.edu.za/ for further information.
  • Proof that you’ve paid your registration fee (compulsory for SA and International applicants)
    Certified copy of your ID document (ID document is required for South African nationals; your application will not be processed until you provide a certified copy of your ID and your passport number for international applicants).
  • Exam Outcomes: Grade 12 final results (if available). Your grade 11 scores (if you are currently in grade 12) are critical to your application. As a result, keep it on hand.
  • When applying online or by mail, keep in mind that you’ll need a unique email address.

You will need the following items to complete the South African Theological Seminary Application Form:

  • Your South African identity number and
  • a functional email address
  • If you’re applying for a visa from another country, you’ll need your passport number.

The following are the requirements for admission to a South African Theological Seminary:

You must meet the following requirements to enter the NVC at NQF Level 2:

  •  A year-end report for Grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 or an
  •  An NQF Level 1 qualification, or
  • An approved bridging program designed for the specific purpose of accessing  NQF Level 2, or
  • A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2.
