About Tshwane University of Technology
- Tshwane University of Technology (TUT; Afrikaans: Tshwane-Universiteit vir Tegnologie) is a South African higher education school that was formed by combining three technikons: Technikon Northern Gauteng, Technikon North-West, and Technikon Pretoria.
- The Tshwane University of Technology was founded in 2004 when three technikons merged to form Tshwane University of Technology. The university merger strives to correct historical injustices by offering access to all of our communities and a home for all of our students.
By expanding access to higher education to solve our triple concerns of poverty, inequality, and unemployment, higher education institutions provide an intellectual home for all of our people, especially those on the periphery of society, both rural and urban.

- Emerging Management Development Programme:
The National School of Government was founded with the goal of developing “a professional, responsive, and capable public sector.” NSG collaborates with higher education institutions in South Africa as part of its purpose, and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is one of them. TUT and NSG have teamed to conduct Emerging and Advanced Development Management Programs. Senate authorized these programs as credit-bearing Short Learning Programs (SLP). The National Diploma and B Tech in Public Management, respectively, are their articulation paths.
TUT’s participation in the delivery of these NSG programs provides the university with an opportunity to directly contribute to the state’s capacity building. This is in addition to the monetary gain from third-stream income. TUT’s competitive advantage in the knowledge market is bolstered by this relationship. It describes itself as a national asset that serves the public interest. The articulation agreements are designed to entice experienced government personnel to continue their education with the University after completing the programs. TUT will be able to recruit mature students into its regular programs as a result of this. The University’s partnership with NSG also aids in the development of curricula, ensuring that its instructional programs are contextually relevant.
