Admissions requirements for Unisa in general

  • You must meet the exact entry requirements for your selected qualification in order to be admitted to Unisa. If you don’t meet these standards, you might want to look into other options. For undergraduate qualifications, go to the qualifications website by clicking here.
  • There are a limited number of places available for some Unisa qualifications. Meeting the basic and/or particular entrance requirements for a qualification does not guarantee you a spot for the upcoming academic year.

The applicants who are beginning a new qualification must upload all relevant documents, which usually include the following:

  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID / passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

Please upload any supporting papers.

  • The relevant documentation must be submitted by everyone who is seeking for a new qualification (all first-time applicants and Unisa students starting a new qualification). The deadline for uploading the relevant documents is the application deadline. No documents will be accepted after the application deadline has passed.
  • Scanners and electrical equipment are not provided by Unisa. Before beginning the application process, please make sure that all of your documents have been scanned and transferred to an electronic device.

When completing the online application process, pay close attention to the instructions. Only upload the essential papers as separate files, not the entire set as a single file. Please make sure the papers and photographs you upload are in good condition.

  • Files may not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
  • Only black and white documents may be submitted.
  • Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file)

Check to see if your application is complete.

  • You will have to reapply during the next application season if your application for admission to study via Unisa is incomplete.
