  • Applicants who want to apply for admission to the University of Pretoria to further their education have a straightforward process thanks to the aforementioned web platform. When applying to study at UP, certain procedures must be followed during the application process. For rapid acceptance, applicants must follow the guidelines that govern the application process.

UP online Registration

  • If you have not paid your first registration fee or completed, printed, signed (instruction on how to sign the contract), and sent your online enrolment contract to UP, you will not be able to register.
  • Even if you paid your original registration fees, outstanding library items may accrue charges that prevent you from registering.
  • You must email a confirmation letter from your sponsor/bursar at least FIVE days before registration if you are a bursary recipient. If you do not email the letter to externalbursaries@up.ac.za, you will be required to pay the initial cost before registering.

Citizens from countries other than South Africa are allowed to participate (students who are not South African citizens)

  • Before registering, all students who are not South African nationals must email us documentation of medical aid and study permit. The materials should be emailed to isd@up.ac.za.

Fee for Initial Registration

  • To help with registration, please make all initial payments (internet transfers or direct deposits into the University’s bank account) at least FIVE days ahead of time to allow for processing time.

Instructions for registering online:

  • Log in to the UP Student Portal, go to the UP Student Centre link, and look for holds in the student center’s right column. Students will not be able to register if there are any holds.
    Students in their first year who are unsure about their program should simply register for basic topics. After completing the orientation session and receiving curriculum recommendations, elective modules can be added.
  • Modules for first-year students with defined curricula can be registered as they appear on the registration page.
  • From February 1, current students will be able to register completely online. These pupils do not have a set registration timetable.
